Let’s say you’re the type of person who’s constantly in debt, and what’s worse, you find it difficult to repay those debts. Or perhaps you’ve declared personal bankruptcy once too often. Or maybe you’ve been a victim of credit card fraud and found that your credit report has been adversely affected because of this. You’re at your wit’s end and are uncertain about what you should do. Can a credit repair company fix all these problems?

Sadly, the answer seems to be a big and resounding no. The majority of financial experts all seem to agree that one would be better off doing the legwork in attempting to repair his or her credit rather than paying a third party to do the fixing for him or her. Despite what most of them claim, a credit repair company can’t just wave a wand and make all your credit problems disappear like magic. If, however, there are inaccurate statements in your credit report, a credit repair company can help you. For a fee, representatives of the company will contact your creditors on your behalf to get errors in your credit report fixed. But then, this is something you can always do by easily yourself, so it isn’t advisable to spend money that you could use to repay part of the debts you have.

What you should be wary of are credit repair companies that promise to remove any and all blemishes in your credit report; even if these blemishes are verifiable, accurate, and not obsolete. If you really do have bad credit, not even the most popular credit repair companies can do anything about it. If any such company promises to fix your credit no matter how bad it may be and especially if the information in your credit report is correct, stay away from them. Most likely, they will use unsavory or downright illegal methods to accomplish this and your personal credit will be ruined.

One tactic they use is this: they will contact your creditors or credit bureaus and claim that the data in your credit report is inaccurate. Your creditors will naturally investigate these claims and while they are doing so, they will remove the “bad” information from your credit report. Meanwhile, you mistakenly believe that all bad credit information is removed from your report and are happy with the way things are going. True, if credit reporting agencies cannot verify the truth of an entry within 60 days, the offending data may be deleted from your report. But after your creditors finish their investigation and find the information to be accurate after all, the unfavorable data will be returned to your credit report – leaving you in the same boat you were in before, or even worse.

Take for instance two such companies: ICR Services Inc. and National Credit Education and Review. They were charged with fraud by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in 2003 for promising the impossible to consumers; they falsely claimed that they had a computer disk that could free a person’s credit report from notations of late payments, foreclosures, bankruptcies, and the like. Of course, such a disk did not even exist. These two companies did not admit to any guilt, but settled their case for $1.15 million.

So if a person needs to fix his or her credit status and wants to avail of the services of credit repair companies, what should he or she do? Well, you surely wouldn’t be helping the state of your personal credit any if you just go by the seat of your pants and hire the first credit repair firm you find on the Internet. First, you should make sure of your rights as a consumer under the Credit Repair Organizations Act by reading the booklet “Consumer Credit File Rights under State and Federal Law.” Find a reputable credit repair organization by contacting the Better Business Bureau and make sure that the organization you’re planning to hire clearly sets out in print the services they will be providing, the length of time it will take to accomplish what you’re hiring them to do, and a justification of the fees they’ll be charging.

Using a credit repair company to improve your credit rating is not your best bet; it’s not even a good bet at all, according to the experts. Remember that erase information in your credit report if that information is true and not out-of-date. Hiring one for that purpose would just be a waste of money.

Their business module and objective is to keep you as a client as long as they can because of the fact that is how they make their money. In fact, some credit law firms tell you that it could take more than a year and sometimes up to three years. No wonder these guys are getting richer. Imagine taking their average amount of $59 and multiplying it by 12 months! That is a little over $700 dollars. What happens is you get immune to the monthly fee in which they take out on a recurring billing cycle. Before you know it you’re 16 months into the program and you see no results in your credit profile. Why pay $2,200 or even $700, when there are excellent credit repair programs available for less than $70? The worst part of all this is you have to do the work yourself at the end of the day. So why pay them???? In addition to all the paperwork you have to fill out and get notarized, you must request your own credit reports. Since the credit bureaus mail all documents to you, you will be constantly copying them, putting them into another envelope, and sending them to the law firm. You might have to do this daily! Where is the service? You might as well guide yourself with step by step video tutorials.

Then, believe it or not, even with all the money you’re paying to the law firm, you still have to log in to their website and choose which items you want to dispute and even how to challenge each negative credit item. To this day I don’t get why they are in business or why they even charge at all. You end up doing all of the work yourself. That is why the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) advises that self help is best. I totally agree with the FTC and with the right strategies, tactics, tips and tricks you’ll end up saving time, headaches and most importantly money!!! Attractive Credit Secrets will guide you and provide powerful secrets and strategies that will get you results fast and easy.

Doesn’t it make you a little uncomfortable knowing that the longer they take, the more money they make? All they have to do is remove one credit card inquiry and they consider that they’ve done their job, so there’s no money back even if 99% of your credit report is still negative after three years and $2,200. As you can see, these law firms are often nothing more than letter-printing companies that make more money the longer they take. So why pay so much money to get such little service? Especially since it’s possible to accomplish more with much less work at a fraction of the cost.

Before you pay a law firm to repair your credit, you should try to repair your own credit. Anything a credit repair agency or law firm can do for you legally, you can do yourself.

A Consumer needs his or her credit repaired and a new credit repair companyopens up in hopes capturing a fraction of this bilion dollar industry. Keep in mind, that you do not need any professional license to start a credit repair company. All you need is a simple credit repair eBook or credit repair software and you can call yourself a qualified “Credit Repair Representative”. With that in mind, think about why you would hire someone to perform credit repair services on your behalf? It boils down to only two simple answers; Knowledge and Tme. We will discuss how to overcome these two obsticles in more depth as we illustarate to you how easy and timelesss this process can be.

By definition credit repair is the right of a consumer, under the fair credit reporting act, to dispute any credit negative or positive history items appearing in their credit reports. A credit bureau must investigate, and delete any errors at the request of the consumer. However if an item in dispute is found to be correct, though negative, then the information shall remain on their credit report. Negative items and judgements taken against the consumer shall remain on their credit report for 7 years while bankruptcies shall remain for 10 years. Sounds scary right? Well it is true. However, we are cretain that as you have read the definition of credit repair you missed some major yet hidden loopholes that can only be translated as an “advantage to you”.

The first advantage we have found is “Your right to Credit Repair”. By that we mean your right to dispute any item appearing on your credit report whether it’s a known error or unknown. Your right to credit repair is your right to understand your credit and correct the items that youthat you FEEL are inaccrate. Get the phrase “credit repair” out of your head and look at it from this angle: you are not perfroming credit repair; instead you are simply trying to better UNDERSTAND YOUR CREDIT. With that in mind, who is to tell you what you can or cannot understand? You have every right to NOT understand any if not all the items on your credit report. As a matter of fact, we want you to not understand every single negative item on your credit report. The more naïve you become about these items the sweeter the outcome. Noone mentioned that you have to be a wiz at reading credit reports, credit scores, and specifically where a negative item came from or how it showed up on your credir report. Now, that is your right as a consumer.

Now that you understand your rights, we will move on to the second loophole in the under the fair credit reporting act and that is the credit bureaus duties towrds you as the consumber. Thses laws are intended to protect the consumer against fraudulent activites and/or innacurate information plcaed on theirr credit report. Since you are “naïve” about your accounts, especially the negative ones, you now have upperhand that will enable you to overpower the strong arms of any creditor. You, the consumer, have the right to repair your credit at any given time or any given point as frequently as you please. When you dispute an item, the law clearly states that the credit bureau has 30 days to respond to your dispute as well as the million of other disputes that other folks like you are sending. Do you really believe that every dispute will be investigated and responded to in a reasonable amount of time? The answer to that is a big NO. You and many others just like you are sending disputes left and right and these credit bureus and creidotrs are overwhelmed with credit repair inquiries (disputes). There is no way on that any credit bureau can keep up with everything sent to them. This is where you win. No response means deleted negative items.

Let’s suppose you know nothing about credit repair. How do you know what to do and what resources to use? You may also ask yourself, where do I get the credit repair letters? and how do I mail them out and when??? Follow the following exmaple and you will find all the answers to your questions. Let’s suppose you have a 60 day late on your credit report from xyz credit card Company. Yoy mail out a dispute letter to the credit bureaus and day 31 comes by and no response confirming the accuracy of that late payement. Gues what, you have just cleared that negative item by sending a request back to the credit bureau demanding its removal from your credit report. Yes, it is that easy and it is almost guranteed to happen to you. This example was just the beginning of many ways you can accomplish fantastic credit repair results. Credit repair does not require massive knowledge or even any software. It can be performed with a simple how to guide which you can obtain at no cost to you at www.restoremyowncredit.com . Using their credit repair instructions you have become more efective and efficient than 99% of the credit repair companies out there. That is truve because repairing bad credit is more effective you do the credit repair yourself. Noone can accompish better results than you, and not to mention how much money you have saved this way.

Now that youknow how to do your own credit repair, let’s talk about the time it takes. Credit repair is a commitment. Tto accomplish great results you will have to spend a little time cleaning your credit. You may be fooled into thinking that you don’t have the time, but if we told you that you will have to spend a maimum of 2 hours a month on credit repair would you hire someone at a credit repair company to do the work for you? No matter how many items you want to dispute on your credit report, you will never have to spend more than a couple of hours a month working on your credit. All you need is a PC, prionter and a book of stamps.
If your credit rating is low and you can no longer get credit you may need to look into credit repair to get your score back in line. You can hire a credit repair company to help get incorrect information removed from your credit report.

There are many credit repair companies to choose from so you should not have any trouble finding one to help you. However, be sure to do a little research so that you hire a reputable company. A good place to start your research is the Better Business Bureau. The BBB has a website to make your research faster and easier.

The credit repair company acts as a go between for the consumer and the credit bureaus. The main purpose of the credit repair company is to dispute items on the consumer’s credit report. The consumer may have tried to contact the credit bureau on their own and not had the advantage to get the items removed. If this has happened to you then you will need to contact a credit repair company to talk to the credit bureaus for you.

By contacting a credit repair service you have made the first step towards getting the help you need in correcting your credit report. They will act as a mediator between you and the credit bureau until the items are removed. While they are working with you, you will have a chance to go over your entire credit report to make sure that all discrepancies are corrected.

The credit repair companies will charge you a fee in order to perform their services. Some of the fee will go to retrieving your records from the various credit bureaus. The credit bureaus will charge your credit repair company for each item that is removed from your credit report so part of their fee is used to cover this cost also. The consumer should be aware that it can take some time for all the items to be corrected at all three credit bureaus but once all is done your credit score should start to rise.

Since credit repair takes a while to accomplish you will be dealing with your credit repair company for quite some time. The goal of the credit repair company is to get all bad information off your credit report and to make sure that it is not put back in by any lenders or other financial institutions. Even after all is complete with the credit repair company and you see the resulting rise in your credit score you need to stay vigilante. You need to check your credit report at least once a year to make sure that no other erroneous information has been put back on your credit report.

One thing that a consumer needs to keep in mind is that the credit repair company will not remove any information that is correct even if it is detrimental to your credit. It is unlawful for them to do this or even attempt to have it done.

It may not be possible to provide you with everything you wanted to know about credit repair in this brief article, but here we attempt to give you the do-it-yourself basics and the facts about the many credit repair schemes that are being advertised and should be avoided.

Some companies advertise that they have a credit report repair Software and also they will teach you credit repair secrets, for a fee of course. There is a lot of free information here, if you know where to look. Before you take a credit repair course or sign up for credit report repair, read the facts and the laws relating to credit repair. In this way you may avoid some disappointment and save some money.

Credit repair is a popular subject. It seems that almost everyone wants learn about credit repair. Books and software programs that claim to contain everything you wanted to know about credit repair are being sold on the internet and in retail locations all over the country. There are some questionable credit repair schemes and some companies suggest action which is illegal. Consumers can learn to repair their own credit, but it takes time and patience. The safest bet when hiring someone to do the work for you is to hire a credit repair attorney. In this way, you can be sure that you will achieve results; they know everything there is to know about credit repair. You can also be sure that a credit repair attorney will not advise you to do anything that is illegal. Most of the popular credit repair lawyers do not charge more than the other credit repair companies and some offer money back guarantees.

One of the credit repair schemes investigated by the Federal Trade Commission involved a company that told their customers that they had a special valuable computer disc. This computer disc was supposed to contain everything you wanted to know about credit repair, when in fact there was nothing unique about the disc or the services offered by the credit repair company. They charged consumers, before results were achieved. In order to protect consumers from these credit repair schemes, companies are not allowed to charge customers upfront fees. In addition, consumers have three days to cancel any contract that they sign. Of course you may not enjoy the same protection when buying a book or software program that claims to contain everything you wanted to know about credit repair. So make your purchases carefully and look for money back guarantees.

The do-it-yourself basics for everything that you wanted to know about credit repair include reviewing and correcting the information on your credit reports. In response to a recently enacted law, the three major credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, created a website to allow consumers easier access to their credit reports. Until this law was enacted, the credit bureaus were allowed to charge consumers a fee for a copy of their credit reports. You are entitled to a free copy of your credit report once in a twelve month period. You are also entitled to a free copy if you have been denied credit recently, if you are unemployed and plan to apply for a new job within the next three months or if you are on public assistance. The companies pushing credit repair schemes will not tell you where to find the information that you need to repair your credit reports, before you pay them. One way to identify a legitimate credit repair company is to look at what they claim they can do. If they claim to be able to do things for you that you could not do for yourself, with time, patience and know-how, then they are credit repair schemes.

The first place to go for everything that you wanted to know about credit repair is www.annualcreditreport.com. The credit bureaus are allowed to promote other services and products on this site. These are not credit repair schemes, but they are usually credit monitoring services or newsletter subscriptions which may or may not be helpful to you in your current situation. Be sure to spell the website address correctly, this writer has written a number of articles about credit repair and has been advised that she occasionally misspells it. You can link directly to the site from Credit Fix Solutions or the Federal Trade Commission’s official website for consumer credit.

The Federal Trade Commission website is also a good place to visit for everything that you wanted to know about credit repair. Their advice is discouraging to anyone that hopes to attain immediate credit repair, because there is no such thing. But they do provide a sample letter that you can use as a guide if you are planning to dispute information in your credit reports. You can dispute any information on your credit report that you believe is inaccurate, misleading, outdated or unverifiable. Unverifiable means that the credit bureau cannot verify the information.

Disputing information on credit reports is the main topic of most books that claim to contain everything you wanted to know about credit repair. Credit repair schemes may also focus on disputing negative items on credit reports. In fact the company that claimed to own the special computer disc, simply advised consumers to dispute every negative item on their credit report. It is not illegal to dispute any information on your credit report, but it is illegal for a company to make false claims about their services.

This is probably not everything that you wanted to know about credit repair, but it may be enough to get you started. Before you buy a book or software program, visit your local library. Experts have been writing books that are supposed to contain everything you wanted to know about credit repair for a long time. The only information that may not be accurate, depending on the date the book was written, is information concerning fees charged by credit bureaus for copies of credit reports. But, this article provided you with that information. Remember to avoid the credit repair schemes, take your time and have patience. Good Luck.
